Amarnath is a holy cave located in Jammu and Kashmir depicting Lord Shiva also named as Lord Amarnath. It is renowned pilgrimage site for Hindus which takes place annually and lasts for a period of 45-60 days. The cave is placed at a height of 14,500 sq ft surrounded by a panoramic Himalayan valley which is a delight for the tourists. The Amarnath Yatra 2013 is scheduled to take place from 28th June to 21st August. The cave enshrines the Shiva Ling which is created for a few weeks every year made of ice.

The Lord Amarnath tour is a sacred tour held in India which invites and is visited by countless yatris from all over the world. One of the best modes to travel is by helicopter which is also the fastest and most convenient commute. Once can get dazzling views of the snowy Himalayan peaks and other natural surroundings during the Amarnath Yatra by helicopter which makes the journey by this mode even more worthwhile.

From June to August which is the period of the Baba Amarnath Yatra this Shiv Ling is made of melted ice which takes the full form on full moon. Other than the Lingam, there are also two ice statues posing the characters of Parvati and Ganesha. The faint hearted should avoid taking this visit since the route is quite complicated and difficult to complete. A medical check-up is also performed on the yatris and only those who are completely fit can carry out this journey.

The ultimate reason behind the Amarnath Cave Yatra is to achieve immortality and eternity which is the main attraction of this visit. The journey also enables the people to purify their minds and souls of the people internally. The myth behind this Cave is that Lord Shiva narrated the tale of eternity and salvation to goddess Parvati. He also added that before beginning the recitation whoever would hear the entire story would never die and attain salvation. During the narration, however, Parvati fell asleep and a pair of pigeons there heard the entire story and since then it is conceived that the pigeons are still alive and during the journey if anyone gets to see these pigeons is blessed for life which is considered felicitous.
